within the past month amounting to fully

shrinking from a new enterprise after one
bad been set on foot our pushing citizen s
went boldly to work again and lu a few
days and announced success. With all
these things of a permanent nature engug
ing onr people's attention time and 'moni y
have been given in unlimited quantities to
other matters ot a mere temporary signifi-
cance until we now see the result. The
Birngerfest is upon us and the event about
which s) much has been written and 'said
bids fair tram the outlook at th's time to be
one of tlie grandest successes In the way
of a public gathering or entertainment
ever witnessed In the state and
this is so in Dallas when the city l mnre
exclusively pre-occupled in Its own private
and permaneiitundertakings than was ever
known beforo. The city is literally aglow
With life amusement business and excite-
ment. It presents so far as outward ap-
pearances go the most beautilul and gay-
est features decorated with (lags and ever-
greens and so filled with rush and noise
that a stranger might well fancy it a great
gala day camp. Thousands of new laces
are seen upon the streets and train after
train brings still greater numbers of visitors
curious and axlous to mingle in the scents
and gayeties oi the occasion. From a
city of 20000 or 25000 populutlon we huve
as if by magic grown into the appoarnnce
and proportions of a metropolis and yet
all is moving along as smoothly and satis-
factorily as if the condition at prescntscen
were our normal one. The tasteful ap-
pearance of the city the rushing business
the enthusiasm and crowds and yet want

this early day the Dallas Biengarfest a no.
