TKXAS INDIAN CLAIMS.
Strong efforts will be made by Mossrs.
Wolborn Lanham aud Throckmorton
to have a number of Indian depredation
claims in which Texansare interested
put on the Indian appropriation bill
next week. These claims were long since
reported favorably and have been
buried under a mass of bills on the cal-
endar. They are for many thousands of
dollars' worth of property dostroyed by
Comanches and Kiowas in raids in
north Texas.

establish a national quarantine cattle
trail from Texas to tho far north. The
trail is to follow tle old trail according
to the bill to Kansas thence north
along the boundary line between Color-
ado and Kansas. Ex-Congressman Up-
ton hus been here for somo weeks in ad-
vocacy of the establishment ot such a
trail. John N. Simpson of Dallas is
now here also in tho same interest.

commercial relations with foreign coun-
tries. The senate then proceedod to consid-
orationof bills upon the calendar.

the inter-state commerce bill and after
a longdobtto Mr. Slater's amoiidment
prohibiting highor rates (or shorter than

Admiral Morrison plying between
Dublin and llollyhead were fully insti
lled. The steamer collided with tho
American ship Santa Clara from Liver-
pool for New 'York and sank. Tho
Santa Clara landed 12 of tho sunken
steamer's crew and two passengers at
llolyhoad. Tho steamer carried a crow
of between 20 and ItO persons.
Later accounts from Holyhead stato
that tho Admiral Morrisou had eleven
passengers. Only two ol them were
saved.

in a few minutes. Two of her sailors

picked up by t lie Santa Clara. Tho rest
of those on board tho steamer it is
feared aro lost. The Santa Clara's
headgear was slightly damaged. She
was towod to Holyhead.
