The preliminary hearing in the Baum

ferent suds of extradition laws under
either of which he may be extradited;
the tirst beinx the international extra

may be must bo supported by tbe orig-
inal or uimrliti U copy of the original
depositions which wine taken in tne
grand Jury room or magistrate's court
at tho limit the indlctmtiut was found
or the complaint was tiled. Under this
treatise it is impossible to extradite
iiautn for arson lor which ho stands In-
dicted in thia county!!' technicalities are
insisted on tor tho reason that in Texan
no depositions are taken before a grand
Jury and none are laKuu when a com-
plaint la that tiled. Under the hocoikI
or (Jamiiliau statutes the same rule ol)
tains 11 a to formal requirements. It will
be seen tlicrnlore thai a man cannot be'
extradited from Hanail 1 for nnv oU'ciise

It is a manor of eongratulatlon
that a majority of the courts have
determined to rid their boxes of profes-
sional urorn so numerous and promts-
cuousarouud tlu inferior tribunals. As
has heretofore been mentioned in the
Hera in there is a class of these men
who neither "toil tier spin" but spend
the greater portion of their time in plac
lug themselves In canvoniuut rea"h of
an ofllcer whenever a jury is to bo
summoned. Justice Kendall yesterday
morning issued instructions to the ufu
cer in charge of his court to summon
none of them in future as ho would
positively re use to allow them to serve.

out the object of her remarks pointing
the linger of scorn at him. The court
evidently thought that it was a case of
six to one aud Haifa doiau to the other
for he dismissed the esse.
