Washington Juno 10. In a telegram
dated Fort Bayard 6th instant Colonel
Bradley states that it is certain that the
hostile Apaches are making for Mexico
by way of Stein Peak Range. Troops
and scouts are stationed iu Stein's Pass
Double Cannou and at San Louis valley
to Intercept them.
Under date of Deining June 8 Gen-

to operate againt the ht:ntilesin accord-
ance with my telegram ol the 5th should
be made with the leant possible
delay. Jn my judgment as a
role the Indians thus far have only
killed citizens to get arms and ammutil-
tion but if alter some of them have
been killed the Indians are driven back
Into the United States there is no esti-
u.adng the damnge they will be likely
to do. The mi inner of people living in
mountains and their property interests
have increased enormously since the
time of Victoria so that if the Indians
meet among the mountain i anain such
a wail will ao up as was uevor
beltre hci. d. An early reply
is requested which will serve to in-
struct me as to the intentions of tho
government but I deaire to reiterate
that delay is extremely dangerous."
In transmitting the dispatch Ueneral
Pope says that he has complied with
Ueneral Crook's request to the extent
of his power and submits the matter
for the action of the war depart nient.
In another dispatch from Iteming
General Crook says:
"From the roport of Lieutonant Davis

that all the Inuians have crossed the
railroad having iiot pistthe troops in
Stein's Pass except a party of six or
seven bucks an a low women and chil-

body in the Mogollon mountains This
party is now west of llillHboro moving
