COMMENT ON NOMINATION.
T. I' Halter Clinirmun Scurry Coun
ty Wilson Club Comment on
Nomination of Wilson.
We have had occasion to remark
before that the paBt ten years has
witnessed an awakening of public
conscience that has shaken the poli-
tical world from center to circum-
ference. The events that have transpired
during the pre-conventlon campaign
and during the convention at Daltl-
nioro resulting in the nomination of
Governor Wilson demonstrates the
Intense Interest that the aroused
electorate is taking In the great is-
sues of the nation. . That element
within tho Republican party which
by high handed methods rogardlcss
of moral ethics or the good of the na-
tion controlled the party machinery
at Chicago and dominated the con-
vention was a wonderful factor In as-
sisting the defeat of that same ele-
ment In the Democratic party who
at first seemed to control at Ilaltl-
moro. Political bosses and parly rene-
gades have ho long controlled the
machinery of the two great parties
of this country and through them
grown fal l.y means of tho special
privileges they secured that their
! inlntlH have been calloused and their
. .
perception (lulled until iney couiu
not understand that great change
was taking place which meant the
dethronement of the bosses and plac
lug back in the bunds of sovereign
voter himself the powers of gov-
ernment. When the Pnltimoro convention
iiHsembled these same bosses and
ten. 'glides bud two great purposes lu
lew. l-'lrst to eliminate the Influ-
ence of William J. Ilryun in the De-
mocratic parly anil second lo defeat
Woodrow Wilson for tin? nomination
for president. .
'I'he utter failure of the accom-
plishment of both these purposes as
written in the records of that run-
volition const It ul. H one of the great

the well-spring of her beautiful hope
and went away strengthened and re
