Letter Loin Globe Trotter -Cleveland
Ala With kindly
greetings I write to the editor aurl
your many readers ana will say that
I rocelve the Signal each week and
read It with pleasure. It brings to
my mind the names and faces of for-
mer friends of the town and comraun
Ry.
I was delighted with Mr. C. W.
Post's rain making project In a for-
mer Issue of the Signal. I believe the
rain making will be the salvation of
the west as a farming country In
fact I regard the west as an Ideal
country and It can be made a far-
mer's Paradise and I hope to hear
more of the rain making experi-
menting all over the whole country.
You people at Snyder might try the
project. When I call to mind some
of those beautiful whole section
farms out west of Snyder and coin
pare them to some of our little one
horse farms bore In Blount county It
looks like wo are doing nothing. Still
our people are doing reasonably well
and most of our folks are mnklng a
good living and have some money In
the banks.
As I sit hero on the front gallery
of my homo mid look out on the
little farm that I own and see five
plows running each fellow with a
tieorgln plow stock making one fur-
row at a time it looks so slow. But
we are expecting to do better as soon
Kg w get the stumps al out. of the
land. ' ' '"'Wiar.Mfcr 'J " 'i ( 1 fc

Have you got the new Methodist
church done. I nm sure you Jiavo be-
fore thin time. I would Ilk" to be
with you all again lu that large Sun-
day school cIhhh that we had last
year.
I still have the photo of the class
that we had taken In front of the
j Court house. I am traveling over the
j country lecturing on my trip to
the west a.id doing mission work In
i the rural districts.

praying that I may le able to ac-
complish something In my .Master's
name. I feel that we are living far
below our privileges as Christians
ami that we should be striving to oc-
cupy a higher plane lu Christian life.
I hope to make another trip to
the west some time in the future. I
may not come until lill'i to the

LOIUMMC LOHEH SENATE SEAT.
Iljr Vote of Fifty-Five to Twenty
Klgh) Illinois Senator Remov-
ed Saturday.
Washington July 13 United
States Henalor William Lorimer of
Illinois was unseated by the Senate
Saturday afternoon at twenty min-
utes past one o'clock. The vote which
unseated the Illinois Senator was
fifty five to twenty eight.
At the conclusion of the roll call
and when It became known that one
of their number should go from the
body some of the Senators were deep
ly moved and later burst Into tears.
Lorlruer walked from the Senate
chamber to the coat room Senator
oinoot walking beside him with his
arm about Lorlmer's shoulder.
Hoped to Change Vote ly IH-Iny:
A well defined belief gained
some headway In the Senate In the
morning session Saturday that the
friends of Lorimer were working to
delay the vote on his cane In the hope
of changing several wavering votes
to the Lorimer column.
The antl-Lorlmer forces practical-
ly conceded that Ixirlmer's appeal of
Friday bad changed the attitude of
two Senators heretofore against him.
Lorimer speaking Saturday declar
ed of the alleged conspirators against
blm:
If H the people knew the full
Story they would drive that band of
conspirators out of the country and
tliey will know If God spares me
they will know It from one end of
the land to the other."
Senator Bailey voted for Lorimer
but Senator Culberson was paired
against the Illinois Senator.
The editor's Consolation
Some times we think that our
wish; that progress Is slow and that
It Is hard to arouse the Interest of
those whom we would serve. Vet
when we look at the changes ofthe
many years we know that they are
great and we ure proud that we have
helped to bring them about. We have
done our share as best we could and
the expressions of good will and ap-
preciation which cometo us help us
encourage us to keep up the work.
For the good words of our friends
we give our thanks and have given
and will continue to give our best
work lu the Interest of better
homes.--Farm ami Ranch.
