The Dullas News doesn't 1 i k to
accept the result of the recent hhiciivI
mcntB election. It says It wat nil In-
articulate noise. The fji'f' Ih there
was not much nolso. -hhnul It. The
people who canyt vote hml studied
tho proposlt and they didn't
liko them r-.nl t'l -y quietly said so.
The News Buys:

those who vol imI on the vvlniilnK i'

words the result would have been
!!; same h:id every qiiallfliil voter
cast his ballot. Perhaps so; hut not
certainly."
Maybe so but tint Is our Ameri-
can way of finding out what the peo-
ple wa" A man who refuses to vote
Is not to h counted for either side;
but. tin-re are two reasons for belief
that If every qualified voter had east

1. re that tli vote win lighter In the

The News says:
"The people i-ecin lo have been III

Influence a battle of ballots? At all
events .every proposal subtnlttod to
tho people hint Saturday was vetoed
whether a State pr a local proposi

The- people wore not peevish. Thep
61'i'iiied perfectly sane. They would
probably have voted fur somo of tho
propositions but they resented the
legislative act of sunar coating
measures they believed (o be poison
and thyliiR to pet the people to swal-

about changing tbelr const It ul Ion

The N'ewB seems surprised Mint the
two meritorious ametiiliiieiits should
go down In the hunch. Tho News
knows that the bond amendment
was tho paramount question and this
was so distasteful that rjmiy voters
felt the best way .! to scratch

There was sonic surprlso cxpress-

voters defeated a proposed road bond

It Is explained In a load paper pub-
lished In Fort Worth which says that
there have hen so many cases of al-
ledged grart there In handling Im-
provement contracts and using public
funds that tha people were not dis-
posed to vote any more money to bo
gobbled up by officials and contrac-
tors. Fort Worth Is finding out Just
i.s Austin Is learning that Texus peo-
ple are doing their own reading that
they know a few things and have the
courage to say what they want.
. It develops that .lake Wolters fell
out with Gov. Colquitt for talking a-
bout li i tn and for that reason re-
signed the empty honor of member
of the Governor's staff. If there had j
been some pay attached the Col.
might not have hi en so sensitive. It
was told to the Colonel that Colquitt
had said that a lot of hotel politicians
like Wolters and Otisloy couldn't put
Hill Hanger on the people of Texas for
governor. We don't know whether
Colquitt said It or not but he could
say it and several thousand good
citizens of Texas would bellevo It.
