On July 22nd you will find on your ticket the
question of submission and be asked to vote for
or against Bubmission. y
The question will read "For the submission of
an amendment to the Constitution providing
for Statewide Prohibition" and you will be ex-
pected to vote for or against this measure. If
you wish to submit mark out the against tfie
submission clause.
We feel that every Democrat should vote for
this measure because it puts it on an off year
when there is no other question before the peo-
ple. You arc not asked to vote for or against State
Wide prohibition you arc not asked to vote on
' the liquor question at all: but you are asked if
you are willing for the people of Texas to have
a right to vote on this question later. Surely
no fairminded man will object to those who
want prohibition voting on that question later.
Some may say they do not believe it is the
proper time to vote on this question and it may
not be. That is not for us to pass on. The
question is up and the fact faces us as to
whether or not you understand that the Legis-
lature must submit the question of for or
against prohibition but you now only ask that
they do so.
We would suggest that every minister in this
county discuss this question from the pulpit at
one or the other services next Sunday and fully
explain the matter to their people that this oc-
casion may not be tost.
Yours respectfully submitted
