On of th problems which we are

ereninit is th painting of street

comprised of two of th Directors.
It will b up to the committee to have
painters of th city maks their esti-

shown to the City Council at their
net regular meeting. It is also un-
derstood that our City Council is
ready to entertain a proposition of
this kind st ths present tim.
Another thing w sre told the di-
rectors of th Commerce will dis-

ftsrting of a campairn to inaugur-

The County having purrhaeed or hav-

ter Bobbins made a brief talk on the
necessity of naming and designating;
our streets. Mr. Robbins emphasis
ed that this is particularly needful In
view of our paving plans and the fact
that w will in all probability desire
free mail delivery service in our
city in the near future. Mr. 0. L.
Slaton gave a very interesting short
talk concerning our future Fair Park
in which he emphasized its future
usefulness and benefit to our city and
community. The closing talk of the
evening was one by J. K. Vickers re-
garding the necessity of formulating
some plan by means of which our
volunteer firemen can be reimburs-
ed for their personal losses and dam-
age to clothing in the fighting of our
fires. Cigars were supplied by the
Chamber of Commerce and all pres-
ent voted the occssion a very helpful
and interesting on.
Lyceum Course Secured for Neat Fall
A call meeting of the Board of Di-
rectors of the Chamber of Commerce
was recently held for the purpose of
taking into consideration the ques-
tion of securing some special lyceum
numbers through the Redpatn Ly-
ceum Bureau. Mr. Gordon Lang
who is representing the Redpath peo-
ple in this section was present at
this meeting and presented the offer
and plan of his company to the
board. Several important numbers
were discussed and it was finally
voted to book dotes for Vice Presi-
dent Thomas R. Marshall Judge Ben
Lindsey and Miss Lodeaeca Loveland
the latter a lyric soprano of much
merit. It was impossible to deter
mine the exact dates of these num-
bers but the Board was assured
that same would be some time be-
tween October of this year and
March of next. These bookings were
secured at a very nominal figure and
the present plan is to sell season
tickets for the three event at a rea-
sonable price. Mr. W. E. Welch of
Pallas who is manairer of the Texas
Bureau will have charge of all fu-
ture arrangements for these eventa.
These numbers should prove very
attractive and in securing them Lub-
bock enjoys a distinction which can
be 1'lnimr-d by only a few other of the
principal cim-s 01 mis smion vi our
State.
