for the protection and development
of the boys.
Study out a few little Jobs for
your boy by 'which he can earn the
money to buy his band book and
get the little things he needs so much
for his comfort on these hikes; The
little hand books are 4 Jets. They
will need a little half sheet tent
corer that we will show them about
that latter. The boys will need some
little suits that will realy save their
other clothes and are really adopted
for the ube of a boy in outdoor life.
But we can not ask for all of these
things at once.
The next hike wll be today at 5 p.m.
sharp leaving the Court House on
the dot We will hike to th Wilson
Dam south east of town pitching
camp for the night.
We extend our thanks to Dr. Wilson
for this courtesy and also to the
Officials of the Santa Fee Ry. sys-
tem for the use of their lake last
week and assure all men and cor-
poration who have and may extend
such privileges for the fine boys
thot all gates lakes and grounds will
be left in as good condition as we
found them.
If your boy Is twelve years old
and not in this wonderful movement
remember that he can live a boys life
only once and send him with his
fifty cents reglsteratlon fee requir-
ed by Nat. Headquarters at N. Y.
next Wednesday night to the Court
House and let him enlist and get
busy and learn his work first aid
oath slgnes and all. One pvnny
thus Invested brings returnes of hap-
ptnesA and satisfaction one thousand
fold to anxious fathers and mothers.
Yours faithfully
Clyde Leo Fife.

Ennla has the opportunity Jost
now to take rank as a super religious
town.
There are Ave revival meetings in
progress here all at the same lime.
Prominent evangilistlc preachers
have been imported and Judging
from dally reports they are waking
the people up to new visions of per-
sonal responsibility and the fear of
torments for prevailing Snfulness.
The people are flocking to the
Sanctuaries and other places of en-
tertainment for an hour every day
and then those who do'nt care to go

West Texas people do'nt talk up

show the ttuff we tell it but West
Texas people are jealous of their
veraocity.
here We Joined a party of fifty
Odd FeJIows here Tuesday to visit the
W. 0 O. Home and celebrate the
102nd annivorstry of the orginizat-
lon of the order in America. The
trip was made in a special chartered
Interurban var.
There were many people there
and a magnificent dinner was served
j This home is the pride of all Texas
Odd Fellows.
Three large buildings are used
for living and sleeping rooms kitch-
en dining hall work room for the
women and girls. An elejrent school
room and auditorium for erucatlonal
use.
Thre is another three story build-
ing for old people and a new three
story offlco building is now going
up.
The institution has it's own power
house to furnish waiter heat and
light. They have a large form and
garden and keep a supply of cows
hops and poultry.
There are now 329 orphans in the
Lome. r.ipKitfK in ape from babies to
high I'Hhool Ki'aduates and by the
way" it may bo said that the grad-
uates from t!iM- rank aluiig with the
bKt'ln the state.
The children are enjoying the re-
sult f the investment made by their
fit ( hers in Odd Fellowship. They
are not objects of charity. They are
independent ward of the brothers
who are under pledge to take care
of and educate the children of de-
ceased brothers.
Connie and Corinne Brockman are
there and happy. Connie is now in
t he high school. They are wards of
Snyder Lodge No. 485.
The home farm consists of 2S6
acres but there . is nothing like
enough provinions grown to feed the
inmates. Really the support of the
.institution comes from a certain part
of dues paid by Odd Fellows all
over the state and th.-re is probably
not a three-H:i!r. v Texas who is
not glad t "1 i.r. '...a small assessment
to maim. '.: Uie good work.
Just to give you some idea of
what it rols to feed these people a
report of Suporlntenhent Hampeon
shows that they use four sacks of
flour a day and 200 loavea of bread
per week three sacks of meal for
dinner 25 packages of breakfast
food at the morning meal two gal-
lons syrup four bushels .sweet pota-
toes and two bushels Irish potatoes
daily 180 pounds bacon or 145
pounds beef . per meal 100 pounds
sugar for three days 30 gallons milk
per day 12 pounds butter for break-
fast. The home economies departments
are superintended by widow inmates
and the girls are used in groups or
relays some cooking sonie at dish-
washing sewing and laundry work.
The same plan Is used in working
the boys on the farm with duo re
gard for their opportunities in school.
Now. will you tell Hernice Raze to
hurry the nyder boys up to 7ay their
lo!ge dues?
