ASSOCIATION
The purposes of the organization are for the closer affiliation of the retail merchants' interests of
Scurry County the elimination of unworthy credit and the safeguarding generally of the retail
business and its interests.
As ths name indicates the Association is primirily a credit clearing house and will enable the
members to accurately establish a basis upon which to extend credit to their customers.
Those customers who are habitually prompt will be benefitted by a continuance of promptness while those who make a practice of being
dilatory in meeting their obligations will find it necessary to make arrangements whereby they can settle their accounts when due or else trade
on a strictly cash basis.
A customer when applying for an open account will if his rating is not known be required to establish a rating with the Secretary of
the Association.
Business conditions have been changing in the past two years and these influences make it imperative that the retailer operate on a basis of not
over thirty days' credit aod preferably cash.
This method is distinctly beneficial to the consumer inasmuch as it prevents an accumulation of debts and permits the individual to live entirely
within his means and to husband his resources against a time of depression.
The program now being pushed by the Scurry County. Chamber of Commerce for more poi'ltry more hogs and more diiry cattle has for its
purpose assisting our people to obtain a steady income and the elimination of credit business.
The members of the Retail Merchants' Credit Association earnestly solicit the co-operation of the public in the above mentioned endeavors.

The Scurry County Texas Cham
ber of Commerce which boasts of a
Dumber ot farmers as members has
adopted a program ot 100 hens and
three cows for every farm. The coun
ty has been divided into districts
with a chairman for each and in
this way it is believed that the pro-
grnm will be put over.
Whether or not Scurry county
makes a perfect score in tbo work in
hand there are sure to be a large
number of farmers who thus en-
couraged will become interested in
more and better poultry and in good
cows wltb tbe result that tbe county
will become more prosperous. If tbe
committee succeeds In securing 25
per cent of tbe farmers to endorse
its program enough will have been
started on tbe right road to direr
Btflcation And borne living to set a
good example to others.
Chamber of Commerce in our
uma'Jer cities will do well to follow
the lead of Scurry county. Better re-
sults are obtained in encouraging
!nd helping the agricultural and
iMve stock industries than in striving
W factories. There is much more sat
