Mrs. Hiram D. Vaughter, 4901 Andrews, Amarillo, Texas 79101,
is president of the Amarillo Genealogical Society. Mrs. Forrest
Doshier, TSGS Panhandle (North Texas) Representative, has long
been active in this Society.

The Polk County Historical Survey Committee, according to the
POLK COUNTY ENTERPRISE, Livingston, Texas 77351, is collecting
genealogies for use in preparing a History of Polk County. The
Survey Committees are appointed by the county judges in Texas. The
County Judge of Polk County is E. C. Matthews of Livingston.

The Hutchinson County Genealogical Society, % Fred M. Wall,
Secretary, Route 2, Box 101, Stinnett, Texas 79083, publishes a
Bulletin, "CENOTAPH." President of the Society is Dennis O'Bryant,
Box 814, Stinnett, Texas 79083.
Naomi Wright is the new president of the Lufkin Genealogical
Society which cooperates with the Kurth Memorial Library in Lufkin,
Texas, by giving genealogical books and material to it. The Society
meets regularly in the Coca-Cola Conference Room in Lufkin. Miss
Wright represented the Society at the 1965 TSGS Convention in Austin.

The Mesquite Historical and Genealogical Society, Mesquite
Public Library, Mesquite, Texas 75149, at a recent meeting had a
panel discussion on "Getting Results in Genealogy," with Mrs.
Exa Thomas, Jack Braden, and Mrs. Shelby Riggs, as members of the
panel. In October the Society had a garage sale to secure funds
to purchase a mimeograph machine for the Mesquite Library.

The Houston Genealogical Forum, founded in 1957, contributes
money and materials to the Historical Room of the Houston Public
Library. In March, 1965, William K. Peace, TSGS Treasurer and
also Assistant Texas State Librarian, spoke to the Society on "The
Union Catalog of Genealogical Material in Texas Libraries." The
Forum is headed by Mrs. Raymond Ulmer, president; Mrs. Lawrence
W. Taylor and Mrs. E. N. McAllister, vice-presidents; Miss Elizabeth
C. Turney, secretary; and B. Elmer Spradley, treasurer.
Editor of THE GENEALOGICAL RECORD, published by the Houston
Genealogical Forum, is Mrs. Beck Smith, Jr.; 7711 Meadville,
Houston, Texas 77017.

The Fort Worth Genealogical Society, P. 0. Box 864, Fort
Worth, Texas 76101, gave $200.00 worth of genealogical books to
the Fort Worth Public Library in 1965 in honor 4, the Editor of
THE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY BULLETIN, Mrs. R. N. Grammer, 3120 Wabash,
Fort Worth, Texas 76109. The Fort Worth DAR Regents' Council is
giving an additional $200.00 worth of books in Mrs. Grammer's
honor as founder of the Regents' Council to the library.125
