CONCORDIAN CLUB.
The Concordian Club is the em-
bodiment of the oldest' club in Dal-
las composed of Jewish young men
and women. This club was originat-
ed by Rabbi Jacob Bosniak and first
known as the History Study Circle as
it was composed chiefly of the Sab-
bath School teachers who felt the need
of and were interested in the -study
of Jewish history. The increase in
membership was unusually rapid and
so many young people manifested
their interest in the circle that it was
decided to reorganize on a somewhat
different basis. It was then that the
name Concordian was adopted and
the purpose end aims of the club are
embodied in the namj.
During the world war the club grad-
ually loBt its magnetism for so ma ay
of the members were called away
among the early ones being the Con-
cordians' first president Charles
Klein who gave his life in the strug-
gle and whose little niche in the an-
nals of the club can never be refilled.
A complete roerganization was nec-
essary and under the leadership of
Rabbi Bosniak and some of the ca-
pable young men and women this
was effecttively and successfully
done.
A the first meeting of the club
this year which was held Oct. 28
much enthusiasm was displayed all
the members eager for the success of
the coming year.
An open meeting was held on Nov.
4 at the Synagogue auditorium. The
address of the evening was delivered
by Rev. Dr. Werne a vocal solo by
Miss Laura Goldman was much en
joyed and Hyman Wakiman accom-
panied by Miss Rabbi Nowles ren-
dered several violin selections. Danc-
ing concluded the program.
After the new officers are elected
the work for the coming year will be
outlined and with the aid of Rev. Dr.
Werne the club expencts to have one
of the most prosperous years of ita1
history.
