Being On Time for Class.
Both high school and ele-
mentary students are still be-
ing late to class. Elementary
students play until the last
bell has rung then take time
to wash their hands and get a
drink. High school students
have a three minute intermis-
sion which should be sufficient
time to get a drink and make
. connections for the next class.
W In biology class and several
others students will be counted
tardy unless they are in class
when the second buzzer rings.
P-TA Meets Friday.
P-TA will meet in regular ses-
sion Friday, Dec. 13. Many
things concerning the hot lunch
project will be discussed. Also
names will be drawn for the
Christmas tree which will be
held Dec. 20 in the school
auditorium. All parents are
urged to attend.
Assembly Program.
The seventh grade present-
ed an interesting and enter-
taining assembly program on
Friday morning, Dec. 6. Two
dialogs entitled Bobby the
Doctor Man, and How Sonny
Silenced the Book Agent, were
given. Misses Reta and Lena
Kathryn Roberts and Anna
Louise Shirey presented two
pleasing vocal numbers, ac-
companied by Miss Fay Marie
Lester at the piano.
Study Astronomy.
Eighth and ninth grade
science class have been study-
ing astronomy the past week.
They took a board on which
circles were drawn and nails
were driven to represent the
placing of sun and planets.
Balls modeling clay were used
to represent the sun. The pur-
pose of this work was to show
students the correct placing
of the sun and different plan-
ets. The science classes hope
to meet some night soon to
observe the constelations.
Mr. Fletcher: Why, Nina Mae,
I didn't weigh the answer.
Mr. Belcher: I don't mind
you sitting up with that young
man, Aver Ruth; but I do ob-
ject to his taking the morn-
ing paper.
Miss Dial: Do you want a
meal bad enough to work for
it?
Tramp: I'm only hungry, not
desperate, ma'am.

Hillbilly Courtship, a farce in

Hornets Win Ball Games.
New Hope basketball teams
met the Big Sandy teams Wed-
nesday night, Dec. 4, on the
New Hope court. Two games
were played. The juniors play-
ed first. The score was 17-2
in favor of New Hope. The
seniors played next and the
score was 18-9 in favor of New
Hope.
Famous Saying.
In front of the eighth grade
room is written "Play not with
those who care not to be play-
ed with," a famous saying by
George Washington. In school
or anywhere else there is al-
ways someone teasing or play-
ing with someone who does
not wish to be played with.
Bear this in mind as it will
help prevent quarrels among
students.
Jokes.
Roy Bill: Your neck looks like
a typewriter.
Rayford: Why say that?
R. B.: Why, it's Underwood.
Ona Mae: Mr. Fletcher, I
think I should get two pieces
of candy for that answer,
wrote four pages.
