the holidays is one of joy and
expectations. Students have
time for visiting, playing, read-
ing and other things which
they enjoy. Some students find
it hard to become adjusted to
the school routine after the
holidays, while others come
back ready to work with re-
newed vigor.

MINEOLA, TEXAS
Palestine. (Special.)—Every-
body in Texas knows East Tex-
as ribbon cane syrup and hot
biscuits constitute one of the
most delicious food products
served in mis region, famed
for good things to eat.
But only recently doctors
and food scientists have become
interested in East Texas rib-
bon cane produced in this vi-
cinity, because of the indica-
tion that iron or other minerals
in the soil apparently gives to
the syrup unusual properties
which it is claimed make it
very effective in combatting
anemic conditions, and mul-
tiplying red corpustles in the
human blood stream. Several
instances are cited by East
Texans where unusual recover-
ies in severe cases of anemia
have been recorded, and as a
result Eastern clinics ana re-
search workers are studying
East Texas ribbon cane syrup
to determine accurately why
it seems to help anemic pat-
ients. A prominent East Texas
hotel operator and a local rail-
road man are among those who
claim to have been relieved
of acute Anemia by eating cane
syrup produced in the vicinity
of Palestine.
