This amount is applied toward any of Texas' private or independent colleges for up to
160 credit hours. If tuition and required fees at the private college chosen exceed the
estimated average, the beneficiary is responsible for the remaining balance. If the college
charges are less than the estimated average, the purchaser can request a refund of the
difference. Otherwise, only the hours necessary to pay the student's tuition and required
fee charges will be deducted from his or her plan.
Payment Plans
The Plan offers two types of payment plans: Lump Sum and Installment:
> Lump Sum
* Entire purchase made in one lump sum payment.
> Installment Plan
* Pay every month or once a year.
* Payment period of 5 years, 10 years, or the number of years until the beneficiary's
projected high school graduation date.
Refunds
The purchaser may receive a refund on the unused portion of the contract.
