MINUTES
Regular Meeting of the San Antonio Chapter of the Links, Inc., Sunday, October 18,
1992 was held at the home of Link Marie Thurston, Hostess. The meeting was called
to order by Link Carolyn at 4:05 p.m. followed by the Link Pledge and "The Chain of
Friendship" read by Link Thurston.
Members -esent: Links 3. bryant, Bundara, Burns, Carroll, Crawford, 0. Davis,
~ncan, Ellison, K. Harris, Hudgins, Hilliard, Jackson, James, Jones, Kennedy, McNeal-
Chretien, Thurston, Washington, and V. Young.
The President's Corner - Notes and Announcements.
---Link Belle Whelan, Keynote Speaker, Phi Delta Kappa, Friday, November 20, 1992.
Courtesies will be extended to Link Belle.
---Levy James, the new Director of the Eastside Boys' Club.
---Workshop: Students Interested in Health-Related Careers, Saturday, November 14,
UTHSC - Link Barbara Lawrence asked for volunteers to help with registration.
---Link Carolyn shared her experiences, while substituting at Sam Houston High School,
about the needs for young black women - Parenting Class at Sam Houston.
---Link Carolyn's Workshop Experience with the Jr. League - Janice Brinson - The Brinson
3rew - Women in leadership/management for the 90's.
The Hostess' Corner - Dinner was served at the request of Link Thurston - followed by
caring and sharing with friends. The meeting resumed at 5:30.
Minutes:
The minutes from the previous meeting were read by Link James. Correction: Letter from
Links Foundation - that we send money to Hurricane victims through Links Foundation.
Link Carolyn instructed Link Tessye to send $100 from the Charity account. Minutes will
be approved at the next meeting.
Correspondence:
Thank you notes from: Link Doris Ellison, for delectable meal prepared by Links, and
our presence during Wake and Funeral.
Link Marie Thurston, and program, her father's homegoing cele-
bration.
Link Alice Rose Kennedy, her mother, Mrs. Ellen White VanDyke.
Invitations from: Great Lakes Chapter Elect., requesting our presence at its
Chartering Celebration, November 6-8, 1992 in Detroit, MI.
San Antonio Branch of NAACP, requesting our presence at the
Annual Freedom Fund Banquet on October 22, 1992. Tony Brown
of Tony Brown's Journal will be the speaker. There was also
a request for an AD. **Action taken: Chapter purchased an
eighth page AD for $25.00.
Letters from: Link Raynola F. Blackshear, Director National Trends and
Services, included information and applications for Eldercare
Advocacy Workshop sponsored by the National Caucus and Center
on black Aged.
