Blue Key Proposes
Scholarship Fund
A formal initiation, a western
motif dance, and a social meeting
with a truest speaker are on the
agenda for campus clubs this week,

Bob Dyess was elected presi-
dent of Hlue Key, national honor
fraternity for men, for the spring
semester at a meeting Wednesday
in the union building.
Other new officers are Bill
Smith, vice-president; Don Dick-
son, secretary-treasurer; Malcolm
Dade, corresponding secretary and
Kotiald Fort, alumni secretary.
A propo-al for a Blue Key schflt^s
ardhip fund was referred to a proj-
ects committee consisting of \'al
Kolar, Don Smith. Bill Smith, and
I ickson.
The project would be in addition
to the annual presentation of a ,
plaque to an outstanding sopho- ;
more by the fraternity.
f'hi Delta Kappa
I 'hi Delta Kappa, men's honor-
ary national education fraternity,
held its formal initiation Wednes-
day. Dr. J. C. Matthews, president
of the college, was the main
speaker at the initiation dinner.
New members initiated were It.
John Syrocki, Ogden Stroud, James
Harris Latham, Kenneth Bahnsen,
Thoma> K. Kyan, Sherman Bled-
soe. and Wayne Evans.
I'hi Mpha Theta
Phi Alpha Theta, national honor-
ary society in history, will have a
social meeting next Friday. The
meeting will be held at the home of
Mrs. Kinis Cathey at <101 Ilillcrest.
Mrs. Cathey is the government
('ocuments librarian at North
Texas. She will relate her experi-
ences and shiiw color slides from
a recent trip to Mexico.
At the meeting plans will also
be discussed for initiation of new
members in the forthcoming semes-
ter.

As the fall semester comes to
an end. fraternities are making
plans for social events, initiating
new members, and electing officers
for the spring semester.
The Interfraternity council has
announced that formal rush func-
tions for all fraternities will be
from Feb. 27 to March ii. March l.'t
and I I will be alternate dates.
I.,villi MeClurknn, Denton, was
presented as the Rose of Kappa
Alpha
The fraternity held a party with
a "Pajama Game" theme Wednes-
day night at the clubhouse.
Kappa Sigma honored pledges
of all fraternities and sororities
with a Marili Gras dance at the
clubhouse recently. Kappa Sigma
pledges were initiated Saturday,
and a party was held that night
at Lake Dallas.
Elected president of Lambda Chi
Alpha for the spring semester was
Don Kemble, Dallas.
Wally Webster, Dallas, was pre-
sented as the outstanding pledge of
Sigma Nu at the annual winter
Baptists to Hold Banquet
at the fraternity's formal
dinner-dance Saturday nighl at the
Hotel Adolphus in Dallas. Pledge-
will be initiated in ceremonies to-
night and Saturday morning.
Geezles will hold an informal
party Saturday night at Lake
Dallas. The annual formal dinner-
dance is set for Ian 21 at Western
Hills hotel in Fort Worth.
Pledges of Phi Kappa Sigma
were initiated Sunday. Tonight the
fraternity will have a semi-formal
dance at the McKinney country
club.

I elta .Sigma Phi's formal initia-
tion was John King, Texarkana.
"Winter Memories" will be the
theme of the Baptist Student
union's annual mid-winter ban-
quet to be held tonight, according
to Judy Taylor, Denton, general
chairman of the event.
The semi-formal event is for
members of BSC and their dates,
and will begin at <! p.m. in the
Crystal room of Marquis hall. A
"wintery" theme consisting of
styrofoam snowballs with candles
and miniature snow men will In'
