competitive rounds this season.
THE EAGLES, who haven't won
tournament this year, are picked to take

reasons: First, being the MVC* south
ern-most member, the Ka^le golfers have
had more warm weather, allowing them

Coach Pop Noah's Ragles will seek
their first Missouri Valley Conference
track championship at Wichita, Kan.,
Friday and Saturday.
"I think we'll do well." Noah said,
"if Drake's points in the distances can
be split by someone and if someone can
split Wichita's field events."
THK EAGLES' championship bid rests
on their strength in the sprints and re-
lays. NTSU will not enter the KHO, mile
or three-mile races and its entries in the
field events fall short of the Iwst marks
posted in the MVC this year.
"We don't even know what kind of
competition we'll face until we get up
there," Noah said. "We never hear about
any of the other schools down here."
ON THE HASIS of l!'(>7 performances,
NTSU should threaten six MVC records
Captain Doyle Magee has clocked a
21.1 in the 220, bettering the standard
he set in 1916. The red-haired senior has
equaled the 440 mark with a 4(Vfl and
has anchored the mile relay team to a
.'1:12.5, one ami eight-tenths seconds fast -
er than the conference record.
Hurdler I ,ouis Smith lia.s bettered the
14.4 high hurdles record he equaled last
year and has clocked a 5H.fi in the 440
intermediate hurdles, faster by one sec-
ond than last year's record. However,
Memphis State's Randy Cnrleton has a
53.4 this season.
OSCAR HOWARD'S wind-aided 9.3
in the 100 eclipses the record. Howard,
