repainting looks good
Vehicles within the 13th SUPCOM
will be repainted during “Operation
Goodlook” which began Oct. 1.
“The 13th SUPCOM does mainte-
a on its vehicles constantly so
that all the vehicles will perform. The
object of Operation Goodlook is to
get our vehicles to look as good as
they perform” said Lt. Col. LeEster
Alexander Office of the Assistant
Chief of Staff for Materiel.
An initial survey of the project re-
quested that SUPCOM battalions
I estimate how many vehicles had to
be repainted. The estimates were
used to predict how many gallons of
'radar-reflecting paint and other sup-
plies had to be requisitioned accord-
ing to CWO 4 Hubert Dirr project
coordinator.
The 1st P&A Bn. motor pool was
chosen as the site of the project be-
cause the space could be spared with-
out interfering with the battalion’s
^mission. Also the motor pool has a
parking lot where vehicles waiting
to be painted the following day

A special duty team consisting of
soldiers from the SUPCOM batta-
lions will remain with the project un-
til the approximately 2000 vehicles
have been repainted. Dirr said that
soldiers wishing to be members of
the team do not need previous ex-
perience. “They need the desire to do
a good job. If they have that I can
teach them how to do a good paint
job in less than two days” Dirr said.
The units will be responsible for
getting their vehicles ready to be re-
painted in clu in stripping old
paint sanding down putting on the
tape brushing off rust. After the re-
painting the units will do their own
stenciling.
“Our first priority is to maintain
uniformity in compliance with the
technical manuals” Dirr explained.
“Our second priority is to have good-
looking vehicles.”
Operation Goodlook is expected to
last anywhere from tw to four
months.
