Energy Awareness

Energy Awareness Week will
be observed at Fort Hood dur-
ing the week of Oct. 20-27.
TO START OFF Energy
A areness Week Blackout
Day will be held Oct. 21. On that
day people are asked voluntar-
ily to turn off any lights or ap-
pliances they dor^'t need or
could do without.
On Oct. 22 an energy aware-
ness seminar will be held at

on energy conservation. Then

tative from the Environmental
Division will talk on recycling.

conservation investment pro-
jects will be presented. A repre-
sentative from Lone Star Gas
will speak on energy efficient
appliances from 10:30-11:30

submit them to the Energy
Branch under the Environmen-
tal Division in bldg. 4468 or call
287-SAVE. The chief of the
Energy Branch recommended
that people start submitting
their questions now so there
would be enough time to pre-
pare an appropriate answer.
In continuing Energy Aware-
ness Week Oct. 23 will be recy-
cle day. On that day people will
be encouraged to make a con-
scious effort to recycle alumi-
num cans paper and bottles.
Oct. 24 will be carpool day.
On that day people should
make an effort to ride with one
of their friends or ask one of
their friends to ride with them.

Contract Day

The Army Chief of Staff has
directed Army installations to
conduct a Contract Awareness
Day.
LT. GEN. Crosbie E. Saint
III Corps and Fort Hood com-
manding general has desig-
nated Oct. 9 as the day for Fort
Hood observance.
On that day users of the Dire-
ctor of the Contracting and
Com ercial Activities will
attend a seminar conducted by
the Contracting Division per-
sonnel on post.
During the seminar there
will be presentations of the ser-
vices offered. It will be fol-
lowed by a panel session who
will answer questions concern-
ing those services and focusing
on actions that can be taken by
both parties to assist each other
in the contracting process.
The Fort Hood Contracting
Office exists solely to purchase
supplies and services to sup-
port unit readiness.
A BANQUET by the Fort
Hood Central Texas Chapter of
the National Contract Manage-
ment Association will conclude
the day’s activities.
The guest speaker at the ban-
quet will be Joel R. Fieldman a
member of a Washington D.C.
law firm. He will speak on
fraud waste and abuse.
