HOWEVER MORALE is a
two-way street. While the 1/41st
aims at increasing the morale of
others with good food Brown
and dining facility manager
SFC Ervin Lapos realize there
is also the morale of the cooks
and other facility workers to
look out for. This according to
Brown is taken care of by good
management.
“A good manager ensures
that the cooks are instructed on
their duties and that there is
enough food on hand but he

also cares for the morale and
welfare of his troops” Brown
said. “If you take care of your
troops they’re going to pro-
duce outstanding results.”
The cooks are the ones
doing the job and they can
make or break a good dining
facility” Lapos said. “So I’m in-
terested in their welfare and try
to instill in them 'a sense of
pride in their work.”
“WE TAKE CARE of our peo-
ple so th ir morale is very
high” Brown continued. “We

Like ost COHORT units
the 1/41st is very cohesive. They
work together as a team and
are as Brown described “like a
big family.”
“There is no one exceptional
individual here” Lapos said.
“They are all exceptional and
do well working together as a
team.”
“They are also competent in
many facets of running a dining
facility because we rotate their
duties” Brown said. “This will

IN ADDITION to learning the
many duties and responsibili-
ties of the dining facility the
cooks are also learning how to
cook a variety of foods.
“They’re learning more than
the basic foods like chili mac or

“We’re teaching how to cook

Brown summed up his over-
all feeling of the 1/41st and said
“Whether we’re in the field or in

fine meal.”
