The following are some of the
calls received recently.
Q: I thin they should
change their policies at Range
Control about zeroing on the
alification range. They
should have at least three or
four lanes on one side or the
other where you can take peo-
ple who are having trouble
shooting and check their zero.
A: Your observation is cor-
rect. All of the Fort Hood
ranges except Clear Creek Re-
cord Fire have zero facilities.
Actions are on-going to install
zero target holders on the 25-
meter line on that range.

The best way to keep up your
credit standing is to repay all
debts on time.
BUT THERE MAY be com-
plications. To protect your cre-
dit you should learn how to
correct the mistakes and mis-
understandings that can tangle
up your credit accounts.
When there’s a snag first try
to deal directly with the credi-

you settle your complaints
without a hassle.
The Fair Credit Billing Act
sets up a procedure for prompt-

for refusing to make credit card
payments on defective goods
and for promptly crediting
your payments.

in and talk to a legal assist-
ance clerk or a lawyer even if
you just want information
over the phone?
A: There are three reasons we
don’t give legal advice over the
phone. First only military
members retirees and their
family members are entitled to
get free legal advice. Over the
phone there is no way we can
verify who is calling and their
rig to this free service.
Second only an attorney can
give legal advice. To answer the
phone and give ariy type of
advice would seriously detract
from the service provided to
the client in the office at that
time. Third we find that tele-
phonic advice is usually poor
advice. Our experience shows
that it takes a face-to-face inter-
view along with review of any
documents you have and some
amount of research to provide
the best help available. 287-

Billing Act requires creditors to
correct errors promptly and
without damage to your credit

The law defines a billing error
as charges for any of the fol-

Something you didn’t buy
or a purchase made by some-
one not authorized to use your
account.
An item that is not proper-
ly identified on your bill or that
is for an amount different from
the actual purchase price or
that was entered on a date diffe-
rent from the purchase date.
Something that you did
not accept on delivery or that
was not delivered according to
agreement.
Billing errors also include the
following:
Errors in arithmetic.
Failure to reflect a pay-
ent or other credit your
account.
Failure to mail the state-
ment to your current address
provided you notified the credi-
tor of an address change at least
20 days before the end of the
billing period.
