Poland Charges
U. S. Hypocrisy
vfWAsAlNGTON (UP) — The
Polish Embassy charged that the
United States "is building bases
for aggression and is engaging
In illegal acts and intervention."
The* statement was made by
the embassy's press office in
publishing Poland's note protest-
ing the termination by the Uni-
ted States of a treaty provision
granting most favored trade
privileges to Poland.
v After the United States ter-
minated the most favored treaty
clause, Poland demanded the
closing of the United States in-
formation service in Warsaw. It
said the activities of the USIS
"went far beyond the accepted
scope of the normal information
work of an embassy."
The embassy release charged
the U. S. with "hyprocrisy" in
terminating the treaty provision
and said it is "part of a policy
recognized today as aiming at
t|j,3 undermining of peacefull in-
ternational cooperation."
The embassy said the protest
was handed to the U. S. Am-
bassador at Warsaw on Wednes-
day.
American officials said that Po-
land, a Russian satellite, made
Communist "friendship" propa-
ganda look silly by closing the
JSIS.
r^EKLV LIVESTOCK '
CHICAGO, Aug. 11 (UP) —
Livestock encountered an irreg-
ular market during the past
week. Hog prices declined sharp-
ly on Tuesday and Wednesday,
but recovered slightly on Thurs-
day. The week's top of 23.85 was
paid on Monday with the closing
top at 23.25. But total salable
supplies were still below a year
a^o both locally and around the
market circuit.
More new crop light and un-
derweight butchers arrived but
there was still no volume on
such hogs. Sows sold depend-
ably but the market was gen-
erally slow on other hogs. AH
weights of barrows and gilts
were mostly 50 cents low-
er .. . sows were 25 to 50 cents
lower.
f^Thoice No. 1 and 2 butchers
weighing 190-210 lbs. were top
sellers. Most choice 190-240 lbs.

SERVICES ,
, Not physical force but spirit,-
§! ual understanding gives man
power and strength, points out
the lesson-sermon titled "spirit"
which will be read in all Chris-
tian Science churches on Sunday,
Aug. 12. At the outset the golden
text states, "Not by might, nor
by power, but by my spirit,
saith the Lord of hosts" (Zech-
ariah 4:6).
Further elucidating the theme
is this Bible verse from Psalms:
"God hath spoken once; twice I
have I heard this: that power |
belongeth unto God." A more j
detailed explanation is found in j
this citation to be read from j
the Christian Science textbook, I
"Science and Health with Key to j
the Scriptures" by Mary Baker
Eddy: "Moral and spiritual might
belong to spirit, who holds the
'wind in His fists;' and this tea-!
ching accords with Science and j
harmony. In Science, you can:
have no power opposed to God. •
and the physical senses must;
give up their false testimony." j
This society holds services at!
1001 Crane Street. Sunday School
begins at 9:45 and the morning
Service begins at 11 o'clock. Wed-
nesday evening meetings are
held on the first and third Wed-
