A letter received this morning 'by
Col. W. M. Lacy from Senator J. W.
Bailoy conveys the Information that
the Junior senator of Texas will be
in Abilene next Tuesday August 20th
the night after his address at Merkel.
The letter Is in answer to a personal
invitation from Col. Lacy and Senator
Bailey will not be asked to make an
'nddress during his Btay hero but will
instill some llfo Into tho wandering
friends. According to reports Senator
Bailoy Ib showing tho effects of his of-
forts during the hot weather. His ad-
dross at Merkel to the ox-Confederates
will begin Tuesday morning at eleven

thusinsm and enjoyment. Several hun-
dred delegates and visitors are in at-
tendanco and they hail from all parts
of Texas and many are from without
