Johnson's announcement that ho is
willing to eut!r the race In 1910 came
about through correspondence be-
tween him and II C. Harris editor
of The Herald at this place. Hurrls

the writer Is In receipt of many of-
fers of support should ho consent to
.mnke the race but that ho believes
tho time a llttlo early to make any

' However continues Mr. Johngon. ho
fully Intends to enter into the racu nt
tho proper time and says that the con-
ditions surioundlng his candidacy are
favorable. He declares that he will
be the candidate of no particular fac-
tion of the Democratic party. It la

that ho Is unable to spend any such
sum as eight or ten thousand dollars
and that his strength does not lie In
the slzo of his roll but In the iinsel-
llsh support of his friends.
It is unofficially Btated that Mr.
Johnson will begin Immediately to
plan his campaign and to draw his
forces about him. Now that tho
