appointment of. u coininUHlnn consist-

of the Agricultural aud Mechanical

The bill explains that the ranch
owned by Charles Goodnight In Arm-

of land 1CU buffalo 24 cattle (a cross
between cattle and buffalo) and 13t
Karakul! sheep An appropriation of
J 100.000 is asked to purchase this pro
perty. An additional appropriation on
joO.uOO to buy adjoining lauds in the
event the commission decides thoy
are needed is requested.
Proponents of the measure propose
that the A. & M. College 'conduct un
experiment station In an effort to
make at Cattolo a commercial suc-
cess They also predict that the
ranch under state management will
have a source of revenue In additon
to conserving and perpetuating the
buffalo specie.
A story circulated here ts tnat at
one time only one bull and two cows
remained of the immense herds of buf-
falo that roamed the plains of North
America. Colonel Goodnight owned
these animals aud from them the
parks of the nation have been stocked
and the present Goodnight herd has
grown.
