WAsittNUTo.i March 18. The senate
oommittee on foreign relations has de
cided to staud by the agreement reaohed
by the senate conference and to support
the house Cuban resolutions as a substi
tute of the senate resolutions on the
same subject. The committee was not
a nult on the proiitlon but It was
carried by a safe ms j jrity. The discus
sion iu the oommittee tndioated that
must of the members preferred the son
ate form of resolution bat there wis
placed this argument that of expedi
ency and this line of reasoning won
the day. It was also contended that
the prinoipal objection in the souute
was not so inuoh to the bouse resolution
as to the expression of the resolution
whatever.
Senator Sherman as chairman of the
oommittee was requested to keep the
Cuban question as well to the front s
