the sound element of the IVctnocratic
party will prevail in the convention."
'What effect will the withdrawal of
Senator Teller and his free silver asso-

tion was asked.
"It ought to have no encouragement
to our party to adopt a free silver policy.
It will be found that the gentlemen w he
bolted the St. Louis convention will not
take any step to help 'ho Democratic
party. They would doubtless coopernt
with the Democrats providing the Dem-

The suggestion that Senator Teller may

follows :
The convention wss one of the nrns
mediocre in character ever held by tlia
party and showed that the part? hi "o
at tho opposite pole from what it wv
when it nominated Limxilu. Theu its
conventions were msdoupof stati-snn il
orators and patriots and there was a
noticeahlo absence of thoao influem-es
which seek to control affairs by comipl
methods. The platform can be summed
np in two capital G's gold aud greed
and stands for paralysis and misery.
"Long before Novemtier that ticket
will have upon It the runwt of the
American eople and If tho Democratic
party will be true to Its great mission
and will neither stradle nor compro-
