Maverick Texas April 15. As

ten to The Kale lately I thought

hear from Maverick again.
We had a line rain here recently.

spirit especially the newcomers
from the Kast. They have a smile
on their face a foot long.
Dr. Todd and eon Claud went
to Ballinger las-t week where the
latter will attend school a month
or two.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Captrton of
Abilene have been visiting rela-
tive here this week.

and all enjoyed a good picnic Sat
urday. Prof. Wilson of Catesville
was principal and Mis Josie (ilen
of Maverick wa assistant. The
patron are well pleased with the
results ol the school.
Sunday school is still going on
nicely. We have a new organ
which add greatly to the music.
We have literary on Friday
nights and Sunday school and
singing every Sunday evening and
prayer meeting Sunday nights
and our Farmers' Union meet

HARVEY LOCALS.
Anril 17. A much needed show
er fell here last night which prom
ises to better our crops and gardens.
Mis Leila Yardley is at borne
baring closed her school at Hell-
ance April 4.
A fishine party left this morning
for the river where they will spend
the day. They have a fine day
for hauling out the inhabitants of
the water.
A number of our people attend
ed services at the Baptist church
in Brvan Sunday afternoon and
evening. The revival conducted
by Revs. Martin and Hailey bas
been felt in our community.
Mrs. Wallace an aged resident
of Brvan. was buried at Bethel

cemetery on Monday of last week
Uev. Butler conducting the funeral
services. Many friends witnessed
the last sad rites.
School work is progressing nice-
ly. Some of the larger boys have
had to stop and try their strength
with the plow and hoe.
The question for discuscion Fri-
day afternoon by the member of
the Calliopean Society is: Re

character more than riches.
A number f our youths attended
the concert at Kurten Wednesday
evening which marked the tlof-e
of that school. They reported a
splendid time.

We are haying some very rainy
weather this week.
There was no church here Sun-
day on account of the preacher be-
ing absent.
Sunday school Sunday evening
was largely attended.
. A cyclone visited Kdge Thurs-
day night and tore Mr. J. A. Hen-
ry's bouse up but no one was
hurt We all sympathise with
Mr. Henry. "-i
Mrs. Mamie Bennett returned
home Friday after visiting home
folks.
Concord scho"' closed Friday
with Charlie Lot its teacher. We
don't want you to forget your old
friends at Edge Mr. Charlie.
There was singing at the Bap-
tist church Sunday night and was
enjoyed by all who attended.
Miss Lou Thomas visited Kdge
Wednesday night. We were all
glad to see you ML-s Lou. Come
again.
Clarence Elliott and Charlie
Locke went to the concert at Kur-
ten Wednesday night but we
were sorry to bear that Mr. El-
liott returned home. sick.
The Maccales met and reorgan-
ized last Monday night.

Farmers are all about up with
their plowing.
Crops are looking very nice.
Cotton planting is taking the day.

Prices are ranging from 115.00 to

ed lands. Unimproved land is
selling from 110.00 to 115.00.
We are going to baye a nice
school in our town soon which will

We learn that Mr. Henry tSan-
dj's folks have been on the sick
list this week but are now improv-
ing. Charlie Adkins i in our com-
munity again.
We have several families from
your county in our community.
We are glad to see so much land
put in cultivation in West Texas.

Prairie Monday and Tuesday.
Mr. Roland Crenshaw of this
place visited relative in Bryan

Mrs. Walter Wilcox and daugh-
ters Misses Lizzie Rubie and
Katie visited Bryan last week.
LITTLE RIVER.
Little River Texas April 15.
As today i Sunday and I am
getting over the scare I got on the
night of the 12th I will try and
write a few lines to the dear old
come paper that comes to our house
as a welcome visitor once a week.
A bail storm visited our county
last Thursday night that did con-
siderable damage all over the
county. Fruit and leaves were all
I eaten from the trees. Gardens
will have to be planted over and
also a great deal of corn. Several
houses were blown from the
blocks. Have not heard of anyone
leing hurt. Some say that grain
will come out again.
We had preaching here today.
There wa a large congregation
and a fine sermon. Brother Mc-
Can is our pa;tnr. He wa for-
merly a Brazos county boy and
knows people on Payne Prairie.
Prolwbly some of you know of him.
