The Farmers' Congress ojx.tn.-d
auspiciously at College Station
yesterday with a good representa-
tive attendance and the program
was carried out as published in the
Kaglc yesterday morning. The
arrangements this year arc excel
lent and called forth from Prof.
II. P. Atwater the well known
industrial agent of the G. II. &
S. A. railroad who has attended
the congress regularly the state
ment that the preparations this
year excell those off any in the his
tory of the congress.
The congress was formally open-
ed at the night session last night
with president J. II. Conncll pre-
siding. Dean Chas. Puryear of
the College delivered the address
of welcome and R. K. Clarridge
of Palestine made the response
Then followed the annual address
cf President Connell and the re
port of the acting secretary treas'
urer Prof. B. C. Pittuck.
IIou. Ii. A. Calvin state presi-
dent of the Farmers' Union was
on the program for an address
but a letter was received from
him staling that he was unable to
attend.
The general prcgram today is as

and Mawhinney in the ninth.

hit and Mawhinney of Bryan re
pealed his three lggej perform
ance of Monday. Six base hit;
were made on each side and Par
ker and Owens each retired a haif
dozen men. Ilcame was credited
with six errors and Bryan with
four. Bryan made the only earned
run of the game.

in Bryan this morning from Ft.
Worth and is the guest of Hon.
W. C. Davis. Mr. Davis was ad-
vised of the Senator's coining by a
telegram received yesterday and
met him at the station this morn-
ing. Mr. J. B. Dunn is here from
from his home ten miles north of
Bryan to accompany Mr. Bailey
and Mr. Davis to the barbecue
grounds this morning. Senator
Bailey will speak at 2:30 o'clock
this afternoon and will be intro-
duced by Representative Davis.
As has liecn previously annouuc
ed everything is in readiness for
the barbecue and speaking and the
indications point to an immense
crowd.
