WISE MEN
Are those who flocked to Hunter &

half prices or men's and boy's low-cut

that they could invest one dollar and
get two dollars' worth of good new
footwear they were not slow In call-
ing for their size and planking down
the cash. While the stock dwindled
down very rapidly from yesterday's
trade they still have over 150 pairs
left for today and warn those who
have not yet taken advantage of the
great sacrifice to come early. 192

SINGING SCHOOL CLOSING.
In fitting c'elebration of its success
ful course the closing of the vocal
music school conducted for the past
ten days at Harvey by F. Y. Turner
was made the occasion of a public
dinner yesterday. A bountiful spread
of palatable viands had boon prepar
ed and there weer social festivities
which made the affair most enjoyable.
A feature of the day was an address
by Mr. A. W. Buchanan of Bryan for
which he choose the appropriate sub-
ject "The Power of Music." Mr. Tur-
ner staled that the session had been
very successful the enrollment of pu-
pils throughout being some seventy-
five. He left last night for Monger
Limestone county where he will open
a twenty days' school.
LARGE CROWD AT MILLICAN.
One Thousand People Enjoy Barbe-
cue Which Proved a Complete
Success.
Conservatively estimated the at-
tendance at the Mlliican barbecue
Thursday reached fully 100 persons.
Bryan was well represented and the
participants came from possibly ev-
ery section in the county.
Xot a single incident occurred to
mar the celebration and it is pro-
nounced one of the most successful
of its kind ever given in Brazos coun-
ty. By mutual agreement among
themselves stump speaking by candi-
dates was tabooed but the various
aspirants to office found plenty of op-
portunities to mingle among the peo-
ple and plead their cause.
The dinner served was excellent
and in such quantity as to be more
than sufficient to satisfy the appetles
of all present.
From early evening until late Into
the night a large number of lovers
cf Terpsichore tripped away the hours
to the strains of special music at the
commodious Woodmen hall.
Mlliican fully sustained her repu-
tation for hospitality and the affair
redounds most creditably to the community.

LAST NIGHT'S CONCERT AT
PARK.
Large Crowd Heard Musical Program.
Methodist Ladies Served Cream.
The second of the regular Friday
night concerts by the Bohemian Club
band at city park was held last night
and a large crowd heard the excel
lent program. Interest and attend-
ance too were perhaps augmented
by reason of the Ice cream supper
given by the ladies of the Methodist
church. Liberal patronage was ac-
corded the ladles and a neat sum was
realized which will be applied to the
church fund.
These entertainments are an innova
tion for Bryan and seem to meet with
the approval and appreciation of all.
