MANY GOOD SPEAKERS
FOR NEXT REUNION.
PROMINENT ORATORS SIGNIFY INTENTION
OF ATTENDING THIS CELEBRATION.
Bigger and Better Reunion and Fair Than
Ever Before is Planned by the
Executive Commitree.
Heretofore the committee hav-
ing in charge the arrangements
for the annua reunion of Stone-
wall Jackson camp of Ex-Confederates
have had quite a lot of
trouble in gettingjust the speak-
ers who would attract the great-
est crowd and who would inter-
est the people after they came.
True this portion of the program
has always been satisfactory at
the time of the celebration but
the arrangements having been
made so late it has been almost
impossible for the committee to
advertise the speakers. This
year the committee under the
direction of Chairman Cowling
has been at work and some of
the most prominent men of the
country have signified their in-
tention of being present on that
occasion.
United States Senator Joseph
V. Bailey has written that he
will take pleasure in being here.
Governor Thomas W. Campbell
has said that he would come;
Hon. R. B. Cousins State Sup-
erintendent of Public Instruction
who delivered the principal ad-
dress at the closing of the school
this year and who so greatly
pleased the people will come and
be with us; Hon. K. M. Hall of
Vernon who has so rightfully
won the title of "The Silver-
Tongued Orator of Texas'' has
written that he would be with us
and Judge Carrigan of "Wichita
Falls one of the ablest men of
the state. has accepted the invita-
tion. United States Senator
Culberson has written stating
that if it could possibly be ar-
ranged he would attend and that
he would let the committee know
at an early date.
"With this array of speakers it
will be possible for the commit-
tee to have at least two good
speakers on each of the three
days of the time and that with
the interesting program which
the committee is arranging with
reference to music entertain-
ments and such like will make
it the biggest and best ever held j
in the Panhandle.

It is with heartfelt sorrow
that we orler our resolutions of
respect and highest esteem to J
the memory of our dear sister
Mrs: D. A. Park.
In her untimely death we have
Iot one of our most enthusiastic
members the Vetrans of the
Lost Cause one of their truest
friends.

tend our deepest sympathy and
trust God will give them Grace
to so live that they may meet
their loved one again.

Resolutions of Home Mission Society.
Whereas God in his divine
wisdom has called from us to her
reward our beloved sister Mrs.
Myrtle Park who was loved for
her noble and upright life her
performance of duty in fear of
God and love of humanity and
her devotion to Christianity.
Therefore be it
Resolved that we the mem-
bers of the Woman's Home Mis-
sion Society do hereby wish to
express to the beloved ones our
sincerest sympathy and condol-
ence. May the memory of her
love and useful life which added
so much to the sum of human
happiness of her kindly spirit
and efforts to advance what was
noble and true which made her
so well beloved among her fellow
workers be to them a never
ending source of consolation and
joy and be it further
Resolved that a copy of these
resolutions be sent to the be-
reaved ones that a copy be sent
to the Randall County News

When the remains of Daniel
Webster were lying in state in
Boston after many of the most
distinguished orators of the na-
tion had delivered speeches upon
the occasion an unknown Irish-
man was observed looking on the
scene with intense interest and
was called upon to speak. He
arose and gazing steadily for a
moment upon the massive brow
and sunken cheeks of the de-
ceased statesman slowly
remarked: "Webster is dead
and Massachusetts is lonely."
Mrs. D. A. Park is dead and
the people of Canyon City are
lonely.
On this occasion we have an
illustration of the fact that while
in life we are in the midst of
death. The chill monster has
laid his palid hand upon her
beautiful brow and the graceful
form has fallen the bright eye
dim. Death loves a shining
mark. God's ways are inscru-
table past finding out not our
way O Lord but thine is done.
Resolved that in the death of
our sister Mrs. Myrtle Park
the Woman's Christian Temper-
ance Union has lost a most faith-
ful and . beloved member. In
fact she was one of the most en-
thusiastic members in the work
here. There is for all who knew
her the blessed assurance that
all is well for her and that some
day in the beautiful garden ''of
God we will walk with her and
gather love's fadeless flowers.
And we commend her husband
and two precious little children
to Him who is the giver of every
good and perfect gift.
Be it further resolved that a
copy of these resolutions be
handed the Randall County News
for publication a copy be sent to
the loved ones of the deceased
and a copy be spread upon the
minutes of the W. C. T. U.

COUNTY COURT IN SESSION.
Ve7 Small Amount of Business is Transacted
on Acoount of Light Docket
Yesterday afternoon the re-
porter gathered a pad of paper
sharpened his pencil and hied
himself to the court hose with
the expectation of having a nice
space-filling article to write about
what had been done in the county
court which has been in session
during the past week. But that
old story aboutthe best laid plans
etc. still holds true and the re-
porter has nothing much to say
about the court.
Court met on Monday of last
week and since that time there
has been one plea of guilty two
trials on the criminal docket both
of which defendants were ac-
quitted and yesterday afternoon
the court was trying a small civil
case. This condition is brought
about by the very light docket
which was presented to the court.
There still remains three or four
cases to be disposed of and they
are of minor importance being
small disputes relative to settle-
ment with the railroad over
claims against it principally.
Will Play Baseball.
A number of the ball tossers
of this city will leave this morn-
ing to play a series of games at
Trinidad Colorado. According
to arrangements yesterday the

engage in the games: J. P. Hicks
captain Everett Peeler R L.
Campbell Hudson Prichard
Thad Lair Mike Hollender of
Amarillo Vince Reeves E. O.
Filgo Bob Rowan Frank Steiner
and W. E. Lair. Quite a number
of other persons will go up with
the boys to witness the games.
All who go will bear badges upon
which are printed the words
"I'm from "That Good Town"
Canyon City Texas in the Great
Panhandle."

rected by Prof. J. L. Blanken-
ship a noted singer and choir

Thompson oi this city preside

assisted by John Guthrie on the
violin and George Hutchings

large choir has been organized.

been reported and the interest
manifested is great.

bott Miss Iva Guest of Haskell

tuted a party which left here
Wednesday afternoon for Canon

will join the party next week and
they will then go to Denver and

ado for a recreation trip. They
will be gone about three weeks.
