the local telephone company
placed a gang of about fifteen
men to work in reconstructing
all the telephone system in this
city. The entire system is to be
overhauled and extended while a
great deal of new material will
take place of old.
Cable lines will be run from
the central office around the
square and up Evelyn street to
the Methodist church and on
Houston street the cable lines
will take place of the open wires
as far out as the home of Mrs.
John L. Howell. New poles are
being placed on many of the
streets and from the manage-
ment it is learned that it is the
intention to make the system as
good as any in West Texas.
