DIED.
Mrs. Minerva Davis mother
of Mrs. Chamlee died Tuesday
evening at 8:30 p. m. at the resi-
dence of ber daughter. All
that kind hands and medical
skill could do for her was
done. She was aged and
had been in feeble health for
years death was no doubt a
sweet release from sutfering.
To her bereaved daughter we
extend our sincere sympathy it
is always hard to lose a mother
even when death is her gain.
Mr. T. W. Morrison reports a
severe bail and wind storm at
his piace b' miles west of Plain-
view on Wedesday afternoon.
The hail thinned out his fruit
and knocked his garden into
the ground about three weeks
while the wind raised his wind-
brakes and scattered out-buildings
generally. Hale County

We desire to call attention to
the fact that Saturday next the
31st the great unterrified the
free and independent sovereigns
of Randall county will be called
on to select the delegates that
are to represent them in the va-
rious conventions. The two
most important positions to be
filled as far as the iuterests of
this section go are State Sena-
tor and Representative. Hon.
Davis E. Decker has given good
proof of his fitness for the office
of Senator; he is a man thor-
oughly identified with the peo-
gle of this end of tlie state and
has the necessary backbone to
stay with them in their demands
for such legislation as is needed
tor their protection.
Judge Gough is tlie best man
in the district for representa-
tive. He has lived here for 20
years is thoroughly familiar
with the needs of the plains peo-
ple and has the ability to pre-
seut and maintain them in the
face of all opposition however
great it may be. Mr. Ware
who is now his strongest oppo-
nent is a man of brilliant and
showy attainments one who
would shine any where; but he
is not made of the stuff to stand

Mvill go with the popular side
ana the majority will be for
legislation unfavorable to the
cattle raising part of the state
therefore a less brilliant but
more stable man would be the
best for us and Judge Gough is
