THE RANDALL COUNTY NEWS. JANUARY 1. 1900.
I IT!
Tulia as the connecting point
with the Santa Fe in lieu of this
town. If this is done and it
now appears quite likely to be
unless our country land holders
immediately come to the rescue
it is highly probable that it will
be "a many a wet and dry day"
ere another such golden oppor-
tunity lays within the grasp of
the eastern and southeastern
property holders of Randall
County.
"Canyon City wants this rail-
way; is anxious for it and willing
to pay and then some more than
has been assessed against her to
obtain it but her people are un-
willing to pay the price all the
way through the county and so
through the undersigned her
soliciting committee she calls
uion the land owners concerned
especially the non-residents to
say whether or not they will
help. The time for action in
this matter is short it is now
or never.
"What say our country land
owners."
WILLIAMS BROTHERS
ARE GRANTED BAIL
DISTRICT JUDGE BROWNING SO DECIDES IN
HABEAS CORPUS MATTER.
In conversation with I. L. Van
Sant this week he requested that
we discontinue running his ad-
vertisement of a buggy and
household goods which he had to
st ll as he had disposed of them
all "through that little ad in your
paper" as he expressed it. Said
he "This has made a convert
out of me regarding advertising.
These goods went almost imme-
diately after the advertisement
appeared. They brought better
prices than we had been asking
before we started to advertise.'
The Men Are Ordered to be Sent to Hereford
Jail Until Bond is Made Large
Bonds Are Required.
Late yesterday afternoon tele-
phone advices to this office from
Amarillo stated that Judge
Browning who conducted the
hearing of the habeas corpus
cases in this city last Wednes-
day had rendered a decision in
which he admitted both John W.
Williams and Dobie Williams to
bond. The bond of John W. Wil-
liams was placed at $000 and
that of Dobie Williams at $4000.
Judge Browning also entered
an order directing the sheriff of
this county to take the men to
Hereford and place them in jail
awaiting the execution of the
bonds. This action was taken in
view of the condition of the jail
at this place and it was thought
that the two men would be more
secure at Hereford than here.
These are the two men who
stand charged with the murder
of John Armstrong at Bovina
during the month of November
last.

to keep the people from being
