parents the marriage was quietly eel-;
ebrated Tuesday evening at 8:30 at j
the home of Dr. M. E. Weaver pastor
of the First Baptist church. The pop-
ular couple were accompanied by the
bride's sister and aunt Miss Luc lie
Dodson and Mrs. Adela Dodson and
the groom's brother Mr. Jim Burnett
The ceremony which waa conducted
in a very beautiful and impressive
manner was solemnized by Rev. M. E.

This event came as a complete sur-
prise to the friends of the contracting
parties. Several knew that the wed- j
ding would take place but the date;
was kept a secret.
The bride wore pure white and was
dressed in a stylish coat suit wearing
a lance white hat She is the daugh-.
ter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Dodson of
this city and has lived here all her
life. . Her sweet disposition and gentle
manner have endeared her to a host
of loving friends who wish for her and I
her young husband a long and happy

ing her plans of Entertainment into
the most successful execution but es-
pecially on this occasion was. she the

remarks for proving herself so cordial
a hostess but no feature of the pleas-
ant hour was more delightful than the
meeting again with these young ladles
whom their Bryan friends have learn-
ed to so greatly admire. At the con-
clusion of this pleasant affair Mr. K.
J. Potts of A. ft M.' College Invited
the party to be his guests for the re-
mainder of the evening he entertain-
ing with a box party at the Colonial
Theater on Monday evening to wit-
ness the produciton of "Tbo Rosary."
The evening was most pleasantly
spent by these congenial happy-

many times assured of the pleasure

Notes and Personals
One of the most enjoyable and de-
lightful hospitalities planned In com-
pliment to the members of Mr. and
Mrs. R. Q. Astin's house party was the
theater party given for them in Hous-
ton on last Tuesday evening when
they witnessed the production of 'The
Spring Maid" given at the Prince
Theater. The play over the jolly
crowd enjoyed an elaborate course
dinner served at the Bender Hotel.

One of the week's most perfectly
conducted affairs was the Embroidery
Club meeting held on Tuesday after
noon with Mrs. A. w. wnkerson. :t
was an ideal day the sunny afternoon
allowing a large number of the mem
bers to be present. After the work
which usually occupies the attention
of these lnduntrious plyers of the
needle Mrs. Wilkerson served her
guests with a dainty collation con
sisting of chicken salad olives crack
ers sandwiches tomatoes mayonalse
nd coffee. The occasion was marked
by graceful courtesy and warm hospi
tality so characteristic of this popular
hostess. v
Miss Sara Allen will be hostess to
the Bachelor Girls' Club on Wednes
day afternoon at 3 o'clock.
