FRIDAY OCTOBER 18 1912.
THE BRYAN DAILY EAGLE
COWS III MAJORIEY AT
YESTERDAY'S ELECTION
..!U(
Majority Was Light but Entirely
Sufflc.'? for the Purpose.
' '
i The much talked of and long prayed
'for election on the loose stock propo-
sition was had yesterday and the cow
sympathizers won out hy a majority
of 28 out of a total vote of 271. The
majority was much less than the antls
thought It would beln fact they
laughed us Into believing that they
had the thing won by anywhere from
three to five to one. However the
twenty-eight was amply sufficient and
It Is now time to turn attention to
something else. The Examiner-Review
is a good loser and believes in bowing
to the will of the majority. We be-
lieve some of the boys made a mis-
take but they didn't think so and
were clearly as much entitled to their
opinion as we to ours. As far as the
reporter could observe no one seemed
' to be tearing bis shirt for or against
with the exception of big Ed Far-
quhar whose case will be attended
to later by the ladles of the Civic
club. And what they do to him will
be a-plenty and then some. In the
meantime and strictly because Ed Is
a particular friend of the editor of
the Examiner-Review we don't mind
saying that we will exercise what lit-
tle influence we may have with the
ladles to the end that they be as
light with him as possible.
Pleasantry aside tjie cow question
Is or at least It should be settled.
The majority want the cattle to con
tlnue to operate along the same old
haunts and they certainly have our
permission to do so. The town may
continue to grow finally reaching the
proportions where even those who
were yesterday against putting the
cattle up may change their opinion.
There Is never any good to come from
constant agitation consequently we
hope those good ladles who advocated
the measure so strongly will accept
the decision and bend their efforts in
another direction. There Is plenty to
do and no one organlaztlon can ac-
complish more than the Civic club's
members. So lot's forget the cow elec-
tion and get busy along other lines.

Wo T. JAMES
What little feet they were
How poorly shod.
That lately passed by this rough way
Toward the house of God!
Such little feet! and yet
The shoes so worn -
The nails uneven blunt or lost
The leather clouted torn.
And here the child ran off;
What caught his eye?
Some gift of God a daisy bud
Or dappled butterfly.
But see he turned again
And ran apace
O lovely feet In evil shoes!
To God's receiving place.
Ah little one! tho' bare
ut eartn a increase
Upon such ways ye shall not lack
The sandals of God's peace.
Here Is a parable
I would not lose: .
God made the feet the living faith-
Man made the creed the shoes.
And prophets who would help
Poor souls to Heaven
Must use to make and mend their
creeds
The best that can be given.
0 tender feet of faith
Too oft Ill-shod!
0 wounded- feet turn not aside
Press on to Home and God.
And child no need to knock;
The door stands wide.
Pass in with glory on your head
And leave the shoes outside.

The
Much Doing at Express Office.
The
records for September show
that the Bryan express office did the
largest month's business In Its his
tory.- This is remarkable when it is
remembered that this does not ex-
clude the Christmas rushes in the
past The force is constantly being
increased tad now numbers five men
in order that the enlarging volume
of business may be handled satisfac-
torily. From present indications Oc
tober's business will even outstrip
September's record.
