Mexico City Oct. 11. Both branches
of the Mexican National Congress
were formerly declared suspended by
President Huerta today. This action
was followed by Huerta In the arrest
and confinement in the penitentiary
of one hundred and ten members of
the Chamber of Deputies who signed
a resolution warning Huerta because
of the disappearance of Senator Do-
tnlnguez. Huerta's coup by which he
made himself dictator created a feel-
ing of tense expectancy. Before at-
tacking Huerta in a speech. Dominguez
made his will.
Washington Disturbed.
Washington. Oct. 11. Huerta's ar-
rest of the members of the Mexican
Congress and his adjournment of that
body has aroused anxiety here. The
administration does not attempt to dis-
guise the view that Mexico City devel-
opments have precipitated the most
serious situation since Huerta took office.

in a raging storm la mid-Atlantic
Thursday destroyed the Liner Vol-
turnla bound from Rotterdam to New
York. Two hundred and thirty-six
passengers and the. crew of the burn-
ing ship perished. Ten other liners
called by wireless stood by and in
spite of the mountainous seas saved
five hundred and twenty-one lives.

is reported raging fifty miles south of
here and it is believed that many
have been killed on both sides. The
Federals admitted today the loss of
