sand rounds of ammunition ere
shipped today via the Laredo custom
bouse to rebels at San Angacio. It is
reported these rebels have more than
two hundred thousand rounds and are
preparing to attack Nuevo Laredo
soon.

bers of the so-called poultry trust all
of them wealthy today began serving
Jail sentences of three months for
violating the State anti-monopoly law.
WASTE PAPER WORTH SAVING.
For a year Secretary Hewlt of the
Commercial Club has been endeavor-
ing to utilize the waste paper of the
city to prevent its promiscuous litter
of the streets and yard. He is now
completing arrangements to make the
savl.'.g of waste paper of two-fold in-
terest to the public; first to keep it
off the streets and yards and second
make it a resource to the churches.
Mr. Hewit has a party who proposes
to pay to the ladies' societies of the
city five cents per hundred pounds for
nil waste paper and this party will
collect It from residences once
each week and from all business
houses dully. The plan will he for the
ladles' societies to secure pledges to
save the paper dell'-srinz same to the
paper company. The sclety secuifn?
: the pledges will be given credit for
all paper received from such pledze
! and payment in full will he mnde to
the society each month. This phin is
sure to prove a saving to t'.ie tns

ELECTION NOTICE.
Whereas the City Council of the
City of Bryan deems It advisable to
Issue bonds of said city tor the pur-
pose hereinafter mentioned. 1
Therefore it la hereby ordered by
the City Council of said City of Bryan
that an election be held on the first
Tuesday in April same being the 7th
day of April 1914 at which election
the following proposition is to be sub-
mitted; Shall the City Council of the City
of Bryan be authorized to issue bonds
of said city In the sum of Twelve
Thousand Dollars ($12000.00) pay-
able in forty years after date with
the option of redeeming Banie at any
time after twenty years (20) from
date bearing Interest at the rate of
five per cent (5) per annum. Inter-
est payable semi-annually nnd to leyy
a tax sufficient to pay the interest on
said bonds and create a sinking fund
to redeem them at maturnty for the
purpose of paving and grading the
streets of said city.
Said election shall be hold at the
City Hall of the City of Bryan Brazos
County Texas and the following
named persons are hereby appointed
managers of said election: T. J.
Preston Presiding Judge; Mat Vltopll
Assistant Judge; Wilson Bradley and
O. S. Johnson Clerks.
Said election shall be held under
the provisions of Chapter 149 Acts
of the Twenty-sixth Legislature Laws
1S99 and under such such other elec-
tion laws of the State of Texas that
are In force governing the same and
only qualified voters who are property
taxpayers of said city shall be allow-
ed to vote and all voters desiring to
i support the proposition to Issue bonds
shall have printed on their ballots the
words; "For the issuance of street
paving and grading bonds" and those
opposing shall have printed on their
ballots the words "Against the issu-
ance of street paving and grading
bonds." Such election shall be gov-
erned by the laws of the State regu-
lating general elections.
A copy of this order signed by the
Mayor of the city shall serve as a
proper notice of said election and the
Mayor Is directed to cause notice of
the election to be posted up at the
place designated for holding such
election and at three public places in
the City of Bryan and by publication
of said notice for at least thirty (30)
days prior to date of said election.
