Will Women Go on a Fashion Strike?
When the National Federation of
Women's Clubs meets the coming
monh the delegates are going to talk
"dress and fashion a strike.' This
Is the announcement of Mrs. Mary I.
Wood manager of the federation's bu-
reau of Information. Women have
complained that they were unable to
purchase skirts which did not hinder
locomotion and men have called her
attention to the costumes which
"cover all and conceal nothiug" and
the clubs will take up the matter. Dr.
Orel a woman physician says:
"There never was a better time than
the present for the women to go on
a fashion strike. Tight skirts are
spoiling the naturally fine carriage of
the American women tight shoes and
tight collars and collars too low are
the battle causes of woman's ill health
and upset nerves. If we want other
sorts of freedom" concluded the doc-
tor -"we've got to stop being the
slaves of style.".
