MR. M. KOELCH DEAD.
Died In Houston and Remains Brought
Her for Burial.
The remains of Mathis Koelch
for many years a resident of the Kur-
ten neighborhood who died at his
home in Houston Tuesday March 2
nfter an extended Illness arrived on
the northbound Houston & Texas Cen
tral passenger train at 1:40 p. m. and
were Interred In the city cemetery at
2:30.
Mr. Koelch was born In Germany
and came to this country while a
young mnn and lived In the Kurten
neighborhood in this countv for a
number of years. He moved to Hous
ton about six months asm and tmri
been living with his children in that
city since.
He was 89 years of age at the time
of his death.
He was one of Brazos County's
worthiest and most progressive Ger-
man citizens during his residence here
nnd had a large number of friends
in Bryan and other parts of the coun-
ty who will regret very much to learn
of his death.
He is survived by a widow and four
sons all of Houston.

J. L. Robertson a well known citl
ten of this city died at his home this
afternoon at 2:15 o'clock after a con
tinued Illness of several weeks. The
funeral arrangements had not been
made when The Eagle went to press

the columns of The Eagle later.
TWO SALOON BURGLARIES.
The saloons of Palermo Brothers
and Frank Kosh both on Main street
were entered last nieht tv an nn
Known burglar or burglars and
quanties of whiskey and other liquors
stolen. The cash registers at both
places were rifled and $1.75 in small
change stolen from Mr. Kosh's place
but no money was obtained at Pa-
lermo Brothers'. The thief effected
an entrance to both houses at the
rear of the buildings. A transom was
forced open at one place and a win
dow at the other. Sheriff Nunn and
the other officers were notified ns
soon as the burglaries were dlscov-
ered and although no arrests have
oeen made as yet they hone to have
the burglars apprehended in a short
time.

larger even than was hoped for by
the friends of the movement. By a
safe two-thirds majority with votes to
spare. The district Include. . .

and Wellborn precincts and the roads
proposed or designated to be improv
ed will total about ninety miles. Fnl
lowing is the vote at the several vot
ing places:
Cottonwood 16 for 27 against.
Court house 273 for. 36 against.
City hall 173 for 60 against.
College-125 for 22 against
Wellborn-27 for 23 against.
Total for 624.
Total against 168.
-Majority for 466.
The election In the Miliican district
or district No. 2 lost by a vote of 26
tor and 47 against.
The amount of the bond issue in
the Bryan district Is for $400000. In
the Miliican district for $60000.
