Soil Conservation* News
Mowing pastures in the lateer part
of May or in early June and again in
July is very profitable, a<#ording to
Will A. Lewis, one of the supervisor."
of the Cherokee County Soil Conser-
vation District. Mr. Lewis is mowing
all of his 200 acres p^.ure land
this week. He is also mowing hi*
sericea lespedeza meadow and hie
native meadow to improve the quality
of the hay. Although Mr.Xewis reg-
ularly phosphates and overaeeds his
toieadows and pastures, he states,
*'I believe that regular mowing is

tire pasture."
'A trip over Mr. Lewis' farm would
be profitable to any person thinking
of establishing or improving an up-
land pasture. Mr. Lewis has put into
practice all the measures which ho
and the other supervisors of the j
Cherokee Soil Conservation District
recommend in regard to pasture im-
provement. -
, Soil Conservation Service techni-
cians assisted the following farmers
in the Cherokee County Soil Con-
servation District in developing com-
plete conservation plans on their
farms: A. L. Patterson, 150 acres
and W- T. Sherman, 601 acres. These
,two cooperators' farms are located
in the Black Jack conservation group
In the Caney Creek conservation
group, plans were completed for L.
D. Koscielny's farm of 30 acres.
These men plan to carry out a com-
plete soil and water conservation
program as set up by the Cherokee
County Soil Conservation District
Board of Supervisors.

Lucky children? Yes, for many reasons.
Doctors tell ui they'll live longer... we believe that they will live better

Scientists and inventors are converting wartim: miracles to peacctir.i: won-
