conference treasurer, also ad-
dressed the group. Reports were
given by representatives present
from the Methodist churches of
Sherman, Denison, Bonham, Col-
linsville, Prosper and Whitesboro.
The host society served lunch to
50 guests.

Mrs. H. E. Pearce left Wednes-
day night for Sweetbriar, Va.% t >
attend the graduation of her niece
Eddina Newby at Sweetbriar col-
lege June 8. Miss Benadine New-
by, a sister, is a freshman at the
college. Both girls received their
high school training at Miss Hock-
aday School for Girls in Dallas.
Mrs. J. C. Douglas and Mrs. C
R. Gingles left Thursday for Mil-
waukee as representatives to the
national convention to L. S. to B
of L. F, & E.. The convention
will open Monday morning.
Miss Adelaide Jackson is re-
ported inirpvoed at the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. I
Jackson, 821 West Sears street.
The patient has been in a critical
condition.
Mrs. J. M. Sayle was hostess
Thursday for St. Joseph's Aid
society at the K. C. hall. Games
of 500 and bridge wer played
with trophies going to those hav-
ing largest scores.
Miss Frances Herzinger is leav-
ing Friday afternoon for St.
Louis on an extended summer va-
cation. Miss Herzinger is a
teacher at Peabody school.
The board of the First Chris-
tian church will meet Tuesday
evening at 7:45. Plans are go-
ing forward for the Eastside re-
vival to open Sunday night, June
13, according to Rev. ' Ben F.
Hearn.

pressive prayer. Past Commander
Tom Wright read President Lin-
coln's Gettysburg speech. The ad-
dress of the day was made by

I Mrs. Rush of the W. R. C. with
gavel in hand conducted the cere-
mony of strewing flowers on the
graves. Miss Ida Wingrove led
the singing. Miss Inez Alder im-
peronated the Goddess of Liberty
and wore a beautiful costume of
red, white nnd blue bunting. The
grave of our beloved townsman,
ex-Mayor Tone, received special
attention and the mound blossom-
ed like a tic wer garden.

ceeded to Oak wood, where u
large number of graves were dec-
orated. The graves in Calvary
were decorated on the regular
day by Father Crowley and a
number of GAR members. The
ceremonies concluded by a return
to headquarters where coffee was
served and a bountiful dinner
