shall continue to hear the cry at intervals
of hogging the parking places 011 business
streets.
Take last Saturday which was the day
before Hallowe'en. Scores of cars remain-
ed parked on the down town streets most
of the day, for the reason they wished to
k,ave a place for evning festivities when
thouands marched in gay costumes cele-
brating yie event.
The only fellows not doinor it were
the ones who got there just a little bit too
late. It was the natural thing' for peooln
to do and which they will continue to do
so long as we have no better method of
handling the parking system for cars.
The answer is in installing parking
meters. Those who wish to h<*,r1 a space
for several hours surely will not mind de-
positing the amount necessary each hour
for the privilege. At the same time, it will
always assure the man who wishes to park
his machine for a period while he trans-
acts business or shops, a place to locate his
auto.
In addition to this it will prove a
means of remuneration to the city and will
enable it to give better oolice protection
and make improvements on streets and
general traffic handling.
With the coming of better alleys and
a parking meter system for cars, Denison
! will meet two important needs.

Parking Meters Will Stop
Hogging Main Street
W ith the time approaching when we
shall have our alleys paved, many of the
problems of traffic in the down town area
will be solved, especially that of loading
and unloading. New city ordinances will
no doubt regulate this.
But the matter of parking cars on bus-
