ting is much of the Lincoln kind. He had
one fine heritage that every boy needs aim
that was the fact of the kind of parents

carried forward the traditions and the ho.

When their son was born who was to
be the future Governor of the great slat
of Texas they 'picked hii name wk.
thought and prophecy. They looked
through the pages of men and character*
and selected a man rugged for honestji
and leadership and called him after a
great loader, hence the name Coke waH
given him.
The people showed their faith in hini
when they sent him to Austin as their lep-
resentative from his district. And when the

they need a district manager with

here to succeed McKinney. Not on-

He served as vice president of the

Texas Has Something In
Coke Stevenson
The people of the State of Texas have
been blessed in the fact that we have now
as our governor Hon. Coke Stpehenson, a
mc-n of the frontier type honest and rug-
ged open-handed and hearted, sincere amd
of a character and type to appeal to
ail from the most humble workman and
farmer to the man who sits in his count-
ing house.
Coke Stephenson came up throug'
life in the hard way. He was born in sur-
and so able was he in office.
When he aspired to be our Lieutenant
Governor we aent him by a big vote to that
high seat. Now the turns of politics have
sent him to governor's chair. And what
a leader he will make for us. The people
will aways have occasion in the future to
point with a great deal of fcride to wh.ii
Coke Stephenson did for the State of Texas
while serving as its governor-just put a
pin there. No man can have .what he has
without doing something fine for his be^
loved state, since he has his first rea
chance to show what is in him.

Members of the spy gang in this coun-
try should know by this time that they
can't get away with it even though we are
lenient to a fault at times. The secret ser-
vice may work slowly but they general-
ly get their man. Two years of faithful
dogging and shadowing a group of sus-
pocts by scores of men over all parts of the
country is a tedious thing and calls for the
utmost secrecy. But the fact
that they can work so silently and unob-
servedlv makes them the mors to be feared
by the gang of public enemies who would
sell this country doww the river.

This defense porgram business
is going to do a lot of adjust-

farming all alike are going to take
losses, go out of busine or make
radical chanes in their way of

Already we are told that ten
