It All Has the Mark
of the Saboteur
Toe many things are happening in
this country that have the decided ear
marks of the work of the saboteur. Ther
is a b:g fire tn the docks at New York
that dc&troys a huge cargo of war mater-
ials. V. *
Then come several explosions in fac
♦cries. Quickly on the heels of this
conies a fire uetroving mill cms of dollars
worth of no«ded rubber in on* of the
major tire plunts of the country.
Then a series of accident* to our
planes in test flights. An army bomber
is unable to take off and crashes into a
l.uilding, burning the machine and killing
two and woui'ding several others.
Tiujse things can't just happen with-
out some detided planning on the part
of aomebody or carelessness that is inex-
cusable and easily checked on.
If there is not a well planned pro-
gram ts weaken this nation at a time
when we need every ounce of our strength
and every device we can muster to pro-
tect ourselves as well to save every pcunc'
of our raw materials, then ths is the
most careless nation of all
limes.
Laaks, plots and planted agencies to
broadcast our plans to the enemy must be
: to*pped at onse no matter what the cost
or we shall find our strength has been
ihorn from us at the very time we shall
r oed it to arise ar.d shake off the Philis-
tians.
00 —
One thing that has b e e nj
needed in Denison for a long time is do-
;ng something for the children in our
schools who need dental treatment. P."
cent reports from ihe prmy show that 42
per cer.t of all trouble leading to rejec-
tions came from bad teeth. It is stated
that 90 per ent of the physical trouble
among schoo, children arises from
same source.

If wc are to have price control made
effective in this country it means that we
must as contiol wages, farm prices, rents
and many other articles. But this means
possible loss of votes in the
last analysis, since the toes of many
will be stepped on. In the meantime
there is no doubt tha* price inflation is
gradually coming around and may
reach runaway proportions before long if
something is rot done.

A succulent, and zippy filling for

ison they should know their state-
ments to be true. Recently such
a report was sent to the Sheriff's
office we are told- But if that
report can be substantiated the
fight will be taken up by this col-
umn to clean things up, but un-
til it is established we shall con-
tinue to believe our deputies that
no such thing exists here.
■pact is, as we see, this is one
of the cleanest cities as to observ-
irp lows that we know of and
we have been around just a little.
Of course there are some poker
playing and bridge irames going
on over the city in private re?i j
dences at times. But there is no
infraction of the law involved,!
iind people who know of such a
game occasionally, and still doi
t'ot know that it is not a violation
of the law, should wise themselves
up on what it takes to make wide
open gambling that comes under
the head of law violation.
We have a.s fine ? si t of offi-
cers in the city as well us the'
county forces, as rmtv he found
i in any man's town. If we were!
j out to break the law we wou'd
| i rtalnly dodge this place if we |
' did not wish to get eaught.l
| These hoys simply have what it
takes to run down th? law vnla-'
tor.
Let somebody violcte the law
and hardly before the story can
be printed in the papers -.he offi-
cer« have their man. Fact jt we
hold the forms open to th? very
last minute when we get a report
of a law violation wa'ting to get
the report that the arrest ''V been
made.
Take the town as n whole, and
consider that we ar5 a Sorder
town and a fair sized city, and
near to some other good r-iied
towns in our neighbor ftate«, this
is one of. the best pelired tjwn*
to be found- All bolder towns
But our officers stay up over-
time studying all 'aees and ih.^
habits of those who seem to have
i no visible means of support They
| soon know the habits, haunts and
i associates of such and when
anything goes wrong they inimuii-
ately begin checking such with
the information and men they
have catalogued
So the matter of runing down
a little gambling gam * is a snap
compared to the real heavy work
of finding cut the habits of men
of the idle type of criminal turn-
ed.
