.ED. S. 1IUOMES And CO. hardware
In oUr greeting' last season we said
and felt that wc were among the firmd
who should express their thanks for
the liberal patronage they had received.
We believed then that our business
had grown to such proportions that
there would be no material change dur-
ing the year 1889; and were at a"loss
for suitable language in- which
I to express our thanks to our patrons.
But in the belief that wc had scored
our most prosperous year we have
been most agreeably disappointed.
The country this season 'has pros-
pered and wc have increased our busi-
ness facilities to suit our demands of
the times and shared in the general
prosperity of our people. Our old pa-
trons have stood by us and many
new t friends have been made We
have now '5.000 feet more of floor
space than we had last year at this
time and nil this space is covered with
goods. We have three more sales-
men than we had twelve months: ago
and all of our help has been kept busy.
For this increase in our business we
are indeed thankful to our triends and
patrons and wc would be guilty of in
gratitude and umvortny of your confi-
dence and support did we not in
some way show our appreciation of
the same. We wish you all a merry
Christmas and a happy New Year and
solicit your further confidence and
patronage. Very Respectfully
Ed. S. Hughes & Co.

JOHN R. JONES AND CO. t.tfMnr.R.
Feeling that wc have enjoyed our '
full share of the business of this city
the past year we deem it our duty to
make some acknowledgement of our
appreciation of the same. The growth
of this section and tic settlement of
the fertile lands of the Abilene eoijn-
try up energetic farmers Who have
erected new houses barnes etc. is
unprecedented in the history of Texas
and we are proud of the fact that our
business has increased 'steadily and
kept pace with the progress of our

In the rush of freighL business. the past
