The grand jury made its report to
Judge Conner this morning and mem
bsrs were excused subject to recall.
They returned eight bills for felony
and two for misdemeanor. If this not
a good showing for a county with a
population of nine thousand we will
stand corrected.

some transcript work executed by
Depwty Cieik Garrison whkh was a
peach for neatness and so far as we
could judge accuracy. Clerk Lam-
beth and his efficient deputy Mr.
Garrison enjoy the reputation of get-
up their work in as good shape as'any
officers in Texas.
This mprning white runniog a year
ling in an alley Mr.
horse became tangled in some loose
wire and fell inflicting painlul injuries
to his rider. Two broken ribs and a
bruised shoulder were noted among
external injuries. Dr Harrington was
calted but was unable to determine
whether any serious internal injuries
were sustained but thinks ho can as-
certain this afternoon possibly. We
trust that the developments will not
show any serious results. Few men
have more friends than Mr. Warren
and we join them in the hope that he
will soon recover.

up-to-date faimers' were trading with
our merchants yesterday. They re-
port a larger area ol wheat sown than
for five years' and the best prospects
for a large yield they ever kntw in
in this section. Such cheering news
come from almost all districts in the
Abilene country and are no doubt
responsible for the erection of a big
grain elevator Mr Cole is pre

While in the First National Bank
this morning (he editor asked President
O. W. Steffens what he thinks of the
future of this country. He very
promptly replied that things are going
to move. That cattle have already
risen to paying 'prices and that land
will take an upward tendency now
and that the next two vears will see
the largest immigration to the Abilene
country in its history. Mr Strffens is
in a position to look as far ahead as
any one and his hopefnl views are
very encouraging to say the least.
Let us take courage buckle on the
or of hope grasp the weapon of
'dustry and lead thi3 country to its
ghtful position m the front ranks of
industrial success.

Ctae member from each of the so-
cieties of Abilene will be appointed to
serve as a committee of invitation and
to prepare a program (or the meeting.
All young people and those feeling an
interest in their work in this portion of
the state will be r invited and it is
thought that the attendance will be
large.
Those who have the mitter in
charge feet that to thus bring the
young people of the different denomi
nations together for the purpose ol
exchanging ideas discussing methods
of creating an interest in the work
etc. will occomplish much good as
well as he a source of great pleasure
Abilene is noted for her hospitality
and if our young people do not make
this a grand success it will be their first
failure.

"Two years ago last fall -f. needed ten new pianos for my school and bought
one each of ten of the best makes. I did this for the purpose of sttisfying
myself as to the comparative merit of the first-class pianos to assist me in fu-
ture purchases knowing that the severe strain of school use would be the very
best possible test. Of these ten Pianos the 'BEHR' has been in constant usr
is today in the best condio'on and has required and received at the hands of
the tuners the least attention of alL It is because of this experience .that I
purchased a BEHR. Grand in preference to that of any other make and also
that I take pleasure in heartily recommending the BEHR to those wishing a
strictly first-class piano with the best ol 'staying qualities' and especially for
use to conservatories and-schools."
