ris led the fight for the Shackelford

Two Routes Decided On.
A sharp controversy arose between
the citizens of Shackelford and Steph-
oiiii county on the ono hand and Cal-
lahan and Eastland on the other as
to whoUior tfce route should lead from
Abilene through Albany and Breck-
enrldg or hv Balrd and Cioo. A
compromise was proposed that both
routes be adopted. Certain of tho
Cisco atid BrJrd delegations contend-
ed that a committee should be ap-
nnintdii tn hoar e.vidunco as to which
was the b"3t route and that single
route Bhould be adopted. A motion to
this effect at first prevailed but

compromise and led tho fight for a ro-
